Maia was 8 months in foal and due 7 September when we brought her home. She surprised us all by having Chester 12 days early. I didn't even get a chance to sleep in the barn waiting on the blessed event. For Sale - I don't have room for another stud (and he may make a really good one) and I don't need another gelding. I was praying for a filly for this reason. I'm already deeply attached and I know it will break my heart, so I am enjoying him while I can and love working with him. Mom is 14.2 and dad is 15.1 hands, so I expect him to reach in that range. Chester Day 1 - Just a few hours old. Tall, big boned and lots of feather on the back of his legs already.


Chester Day 5 - It's been raining and we are all wet. He is so curious, even though mom says "no", he keeps coming up for little scratches. Check out his short back, angled shoulder and elegant neck. This boy has it all!


Chester Day 10 - Chester received his first lessons in leading today! He was just getting the hang of it when I quit. The next day lead trining just clicked with him. "You mean follow you, ok"! Smart little guy!


Chester Day 23 - I took Maia for a stroll in the yard today. She got to eat some good grass before I cut it. Chester had a wonderful time running around the yard and he was actually playing with the dogs. They were following each other around and sniffing noses.


Chester 18 Oct 09) - Have I said how much I love this boy? He loves attention and follows me like a puppy dog in the pasture.! We have been working on cross-tieing, picking his feet (already had first filing from the farrier) and he is now confident enough to be lead on walks in the yard without mom. I swear, he will do anything for a few scratches or a peppermint. He shed some baby hair, but it's starting to get cold so his winter coat is coming in before shedding completely. His mane is starting to show lighter hairs too, so I am sure it will go flaxen....and talk about built, look at that butt!



Chester turned 3 months on Thanksgiving. Thinking ahead, it was time to introduce him to one of the other horses so he could make a buddy. Tequila is my 3 year old QH gelding. He is very laid back and used to being with the playful Hairy and Halfpint. I thought he would be a good choice. They will spend time together, so when Mom is taken away, Chester will have a friend to keep him company and secure while weaned.


06 Feb 10 - Chester is 5+ months, being weaned and is doing really well. Only occasionally will he nicker wondering where mom is (she is taking this harder). The past month has been nothing but rain (2+ inches yesterday). Too cold for a bath, but a bit of brushing helped. Everything including Chester has a red tint from the GA clay.


12 Feb 10 - It DOES snow in Georgia! Chester experiencing his first snow with his friend Tequila!



Chester 23 May 10 - Chester was clipped 2 weeks ago and received a bath today. WOW is all I can say as he just amazes me!


Chester 29 Aug 10 - Chester turned is 1 year old! He has darkened up and is filling out nicely!!
